The Girl On The Train Review

Hello!
Right, so I don't normally do book reviews, but I've just finished this book and I'm amazed, I honestly think it is the best book I've ever read.
'To everyone else in this carriage I must look normal; I'm doing exactly what they do: commuting to work, making appointments, ticking things off lists.
Just goes to show.'
The book is written by Paula Hawkins, it is her first thriller. I'd actually never heard of this book before, but my friend had it so I asked if I could give it a read. The reviews on the book were amazing;
'Gripping, enthralling- a top notch thriller and a compulsive read' - SJ Watson
'So thrilling and tense and wildly unpredictable. I simply could not put it down. Not to be missed! - Tess Gerritsen
I completely agree. The book had me captivated from beginning to end, I hated having to put it down. My opinions of different characters changed throughout the book, and the twist and turns made it so much more interesting. The book created such a clear image of the events in my head, it felt like I was there, watching it first hand.
The way it was written was beautiful, the different perspectives from characters in the book gave the book such a great pace, and made my emotions change constantly. I couldn't guess what would happen next, the book wasn't predictable at all. I never expected the ending what so ever, I thought I had it planned out at the beginning, and to realise I was wrong amazed me, it suprised me. I love the fact it wasn't boring, and paced the same throughout. It changed paced, it was unexpected, exciting. I can't think of enough adjective words to describe how much I love this book.
As soon as this comes out in cinemas I am going yo be the first one there. I genuinely believe this is the BEST book I have ever read, and I am a fairly big reader. I honestly cannot praise Paula enough for her brilliant writing style, and amazing ideas.
I obviously didn't make this book review as long as it could be, I could go on and on about different sections of the book. However, I'm trying to keep it as spoiler free as possible. And I honestly want all of you to read the book, to begin with you may not think it's your cup of tea, but I promise you it will blow your minds!
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed (and read the book, please)
Lots of love,
Elise xo

November Favourites (and Fails!)

Hello!

Right so I normally do my favourite posts in the same style, however I thought I'd mix it up a bit (oh, exciting I know) so I'm going to add in things that didn't work for me as well. It's all fine and dandy knowing what does work, but it's always useful knowing what doesn't.

TV and Film-

To be completely honest, I haven't watched anything new this month what so ever. The only thing I love is Geordie Shore, I've watch it for ages, and although I've never mentioned it, I love it a lot!

Makeup and Skincare-

I've been loving the whole Nivea range recently, the cleanser/toner is a personal favourite, as it picks up little bits of makeup so easily! I also bought two Miss Sporty lipsticks, which are amazing! I'm going to do a review on them so stay tuned!
I'm going to add in an extra little bit, and talk about hair products. Now curling wands have been my favourite this month, I love the curly hair look. If anyone has any nice hairspray recommendations which keep you hair light, please let me know. My fail in this department is the Bed Head Texturing Gel (this might not be right, I currently cannot find it) I hated this with a passion. I added it to my hair after curling, and afterwards it was so heavy and looked extremely greasy. This was before school, and it was that bad I had to try and wash it out with water without ruining my curls.

Music-

Music this month, honestly how good has it been. Adele, no words, just amazing. Troye Sivan, my absolute babe is outstanding and I love him and his album is so good (go buy it, please, it's amazing!) Little Mix, I'm starting to stan them now, brilliant songs. It's just been outstanding!

Youtube and Blogs-

I haven't really watched anyone new thus month. However, I have my old favourites such as Eve Bennett, she's a queen I recommend. Noo Stenning, another amazing person and amazing youtuber/blogger. Christmas is near, so I've watched like 200 hundred gift guides, and DIY presents, if your stuck youtube is the best place to go, there is so much inspiration.
Fails, Sam Pepper. I can't even get into this, it annoys me so much. I don't even want to waste anymore time on him, but I'm sure you can find rants in most places, my twitter account included.

Hoping this has been short and sweet? Maybe not so much sweet? I'm doubting whether the fails part is a good idea or not, I might stick with it for a little while.

Love you lots,

Elise xo

Favourite Autumnal Lip Colours

Hello everyone, sorry i haven't posted in so long and thank you Elise for keeping this blog up and running. Firstly, if you haven't seen our previous post which Elise wrote then please go and give it a read as it is truly amazing and based on an unfortunate event that happened a couple of days ago. Anyway, today i thought i would do a beauty related blog post; my favourite autumnal lip colours. So let's just get straight into it.

I mostly like quite dark colours as they suit me best and i also think dark colours are perfect colours for autumn and winter. My first favourite lip colour is from a No 7 Lipstick in the shade Tricky 445. This colour is a red based matt colour but at the same time has a tint of brown and a neutral colour. I really like this colour as it really makes your lips stand out but not drastically. I got this product passed down from a family member as it didn't suit them and so i do not know the price but if i find out i will leave a link at the bottom.

Another favourite which is quite similar to the No 7 one is a Revlon Lipstick. This lipstick is in the shade Cherry Blossom 028. The colour is kind of a ruby red but again, doesn't stand out drastically, just makes your lips noticeable and brightens your face in a way if that makes any sense. I love the packaging of this product and the overall look and shade. Again, this got passed down from a friend and so i do not know the price however if i find out i will link it below.

MUA have very good quality products as well as really cheap prices. I love most of their products however not all of them due to the shades i need or how much each product contains. Anyway, one of my favourite products is one of their lipsticks. This lipstick is in Shade 7. The shade is a rosy colour however depending on how much you apply it can be a dark shade. I wear this product not only in autumn but i did also wear this in summer as it can become a light pink shade as well which is what i like. Another lipstick that i would like is a shade that my sister bought. She bought a dark plum red which i did wear for halloween and if you follow me on twitter would have seen a picture. I think the lipstick is in Shade 13. MUA lipsticks are only £1 each! £1 each! They are so cheap and have a really good quality and content. Also, at the bottom of the lipstick you can screw off the bottom to have a pot of the lipstick if you wanted to apply with a brush which i think is a really good idea and you really get what you pay for!

The last lip colour i like is from Revlon and it is a Revlon ColourBurst Matte Stain. Zoella mentioned these in one of her videos a few years ago and ever since i have always bought them as they ave so much content and the colours are really nice. The shade which i got was Complex 230. This is a really matt and nude shade and is really nice to use for school or college or if you want to have a light and nude make-up look. This matte balm was £7.99 and i bought it from Boots. I don't only wear this in autumn/winter i wear it on a daily basis if i am being completely honest. I mainly use this for school as i think it has a discreet look and effect and so is perfect for school as it is minimal.

That is the end to this blog post, i hope you liked it,

Please look at Elise's previous post as it is really touching: http://perksofbeingtiaelisexo.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/our-world.html

Our World.

How do I even begin to collect my thoughts and throw them on to the page.
I don't even how to write a post right now explaining all my thoughts and feelings without writing pages or breaking down half way through.
Friday the 13th of November 2015. A tragic day across the world for everyone.
I won't go into detail about what happened, it everywhere, if you haven't already heard then I suggest you look it up.
Lebanon, around 43 killed in two suicide bombings. Baghdad, 26 killed and 43 injured in a suicide bombing. Germany, eight bodies found in a house. Japan, a high magnitude earthquake with tsunami warnings. Turkey, more suicide bombs and killings, over the last few months there had been over 120 deaths. The ever growing race problem in Mizzou.
I'm not trying to take away what happened in Turkey and Lebanon, and I'm not ignoring it. It happens all the time and it's terrible. There is less media coverage because it happens in less developed countries than France. People forget that killings and bombings still happen in Iraq, Syria etc. I'm going to be honest and say even I'm not fully educated on what's happening in these places, and I'm determined to learn more about the issues that people in these countries face everyday
However what really hit everyone was Paris. Supposedly because it's such a developed country, and what happened was such a shock.
160+ dead, co - ordinated attacks, bombs set off outside a stadium, people shot in a bar, and 100 people taken hostage in a concert, slaughtered one by one until the police were forced to intervene. There was more, look it up.
Now I'm not some amazing writer who can compose her political and economical thoughts into one post. I can't change the world. I can't stop what's happening. And hey, you might think what I'm saying is completely wrong. You might think I've approached the subject in the wrong way or shared what I want to say in the wrong way. There are thousands of more amazing people out there that can write intellectual, more detailed posts on this. But here it goes.
I could explain how terrible this is, how much I feel for all the families involved. I do. It breaks my heart to know that these people won't be able to do the little things in life like make a cup of tea or listen the the birds tweeting. They won't get to go christmas shopping or see the new year in. They won't get to watch their children grow up or start a family of their own. And their families will never get to tell them just how much they love them.
We know who was behind this, they've already taken responsibility. I suppose they've got what they wanted, fear. Nearly everyone I've spoke to or tweeted are scared. They want everyone's boarders closed, and they don't wanna go outside anymore. That's what ISIS did.
Then we get the Islamophobia. As soon as they accepted responsibility it started. You know I saw this tweet on my twitter earlier, saying her seven year old daughter asked her of she had to tell everyone she wasn't Muslim anymore. I saw a post from a woman saying that she got ignored in stores today, and got looked down on by others, children asked their parents if she was a terrorist?
Muslims are not terrorists. I could sit here and go on for hours about how they aren't, look on twitter and you will see enough content.
ISIS are a extremist group. They are doing what they want and using religion to try and justify their actions. They are not Muslims. ISIS have killed over 100,000 muslims, they've blown up mosques, if they were Muslims why? The Qu'ran does not tell Muslims to kill, it even talks about how killing insects are wrong. Look it up before you say they must be doing it because of what Islam 'teaches' them. Have a look.
Now you want to sit there and blame Muslims for what this extremist group has done. When you don't blame Germans for Hitler, and you don't blame Christians for the KKK, but it's fine to blame Muslims for ISIS right?
You may be scared for you life, worried you are going to get killed. But there are hundreds of thousands of Muslims out there who are scared too. Subjected to prejudice and hate. Such as the Muslim woman that got pushed onto the train tracks because of her religion.
Now before you sit there, and blame Muslims who do not condone ISIS at all. I suggest you educate yourself, and think about the people you might be hurting by blaming them for something they didn't do.
And to Muslims. I'm sorry, I am so unbelievably sorry that you get blamed for something you haven't done. I'm so sorry that people can't open there eyes and use their brain more instead of putting you all into one camp.
To everyone involved in the other tragedys of Friday the 13th of November, I wish you all the best. I'm sorry I can't do anymore. All I can do is try and get people to listen, and think. I'm so sorry for everything, and I wish you the best.
I see humans, but not humanity.

October Favourites

Hello!

It's that time of the month again...FAVOURITES, I love writing and reading favourites posts, so if you know anyone that writes them everyone month and that are very good, I would love to hear about them!

TV and Film

Crime shows have been my guilty pleasure again this month, well actually I've always loved crime shows, they just excite me. Switched At Birth, won't say loads about it because you all know but yeah new eposides equals a very happy me. Peter Kaye and Lee Evans always make me laugh, so they've been a big favourite this month. I've literally watched hardly anything new though, I really need some recommendations!

Makeup and Skincare

I can tell this month's favourites is going to be terrible because once again I cannot think of anything. This month I've hardly been wearing any makeup, so I think that has to be my favourite, nothing. It has majorly improved my skin (until now, but that's due to school stress) it's felt good to just let my skin have some space. I've not been using many harsh products on my skin either, just good old toothpaste.

Music

(And books) as I've said before I don't have a certain type of music I listen too, anything that's on pleases me. Probably 2005-2011 songs have been my thing, cheesy songs but just all around great. Girl Online, okay I know the second one has come out now, and I've had this book for ages. I've read it loads of times before, but I hadn't read it for a while so I picked it up on the way to my grandparents house, and I read it that day, I love it (I'm actually going to do a full review on it, why not?)

Youtube
I've not really got many, just really what I've liked all the time. Joe, Tyler, Zoe, just the normal people. Shane Dawson is also my new favoruite, I've only just started watching him but I find him hilarious. My favoruite video though must be Colleen's Bohemian Rapsody video from her wedding, it's just gold!

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed.

Lots of love,

Elise xo

What To Do When You're Sick

Hello!

Sorry I didn't post, was going to do my unboxing finally but I've got to collect all the stuff together. So I thought, why not do a post about 'what to do when you're ill' seeing as it's coming up to winter where basically EVERYONE gets sick!

1- Stay inside if you can
This is a pretty obvious one, but the amount of people I've seen with colds outside in the freezing air is unbelievable. If you are off school, or too ill to go then stay inside and rest. Wrap yourself up, get some hot chocolate and just watch Netflix.

2 - Do something you enjoy
If you're sick, you're more likely to feel sad/down. Do something you like, such as watching youtube, reading or writing. It won't make you physically better, but it will help your mental state.

3- Have a bath
Baths are amazing if you're sick! Light a candle, get your favourite bath treats, put on some music (or do what I do and prop your phone up so you can watch youtube). Taking a bath can really help you relax, and is especially good for headaches or stomach aches.

4- Eat healthy and drink plenty of water
Okay, I admit this is hard. When I'm ill all I want to do is eat chocolate and drink milkshake, which is okay in moderation. However, having the right diet will help your health increase, and drinking water will too!

There are loads of other things you can do as well, it's whatever you feel will help you the most, staying healthy is extremely important.

Thank you for reading, my next post will defiently be the unboxing, promise!

Love,

Elise xo
